Physical Activity
Healthy Rice County is working to implement policies and practices that create active schools and communities by increasing opportunities for walking and biking (non-motorized transportation) and improved access to recreational facilities.
Current Initiatives Include:
- Increased walking/biking to and from school, work, and leisure
- Improved community design and traffic safety measures
- Increasing signage and promotion of parks, trails, bicycle routes, and recreational facilities
- Increasing physical activity in child care settings
- Working with schools and worksites to implement wellness policies, systems and environmental changes.
